Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Gas, Water & Multiutilities, Banking and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.68%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 2.67% or 29.00 points to trade at 1114.00 at the close. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) added 2.39% or 50.00 points to end at 2141.00 and Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) was up 2.26% or 31.50 points to 1426.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which lost 6.40% or 312.00 points to trade at 4561.00 in late trade. Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) declined 5.30% or 14.90 points to end at 266.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 3.49% or 24.60 points to 679.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1106 to 871 and 315 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.27% or 3.50 to $1300.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.36% or 0.23 to hit $64.98 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.82% or 0.62 to trade at $74.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.48% to 1.3377, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.8751.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 93.93.
