Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Electrical, Gas, Water & Multiutilities and Industrial Metals & Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.66%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which rose 6.20% or 48.60 points to trade at 833.00 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 3.22% or 9.00 points to end at 288.20 and Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT) was up 2.88% or 9.50 points to 339.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq), which lost 10.34% or 3.30 points to trade at 28.63 in late trade. Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) declined 7.58% or 105.00 points to end at 1281.00 and Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB) shed 4.75% or 126.0 points to 2525.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1199 to 1046 and 147 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.09% or 18.55 to $1723.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.03% or 0.01 to hit $37.28 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.18% or 0.07 to trade at $39.86 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.30% to 1.2610, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.8994.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.59% at 96.685.
