Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Banking, Mobile Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Next PLC (LON:NXT), which rose 4.15% or 256.0 points to trade at 6426.0 at the close. J Sainsbury PLC (LON:SBRY) added 3.32% or 6.15 points to end at 191.15 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.69% or 71.00 points to 2712.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which lost 3.06% or 19.80 points to trade at 628.00 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 2.96% or 9.40 points to end at 308.00 and NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG) shed 2.96% or 3.05 points to 100.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1218 to 911 and 178 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.01% or 19.85 to $1950.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.24% or 0.90 to hit $41.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 2.82% or 1.19 to trade at $43.41 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.16% to 1.2944, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.9134.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 93.102.
