Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Mining and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Informa Plc (LON:INF), which rose 4.13% or 29.00 points to trade at 731.50 at the close. Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) added 2.73% or 5.90 points to end at 221.80 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 1.51% or 2.30 points to 154.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 9.97% or 198.00 points to trade at 1787.00 in late trade. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) declined 4.08% or 42.50 points to end at 998.50 and Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) shed 3.97% or 110.00 points to 2662.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1439 to 509 and 424 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.50 to $1287.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.74% or 0.42 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.77% or 0.49 to trade at $63.98 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.18% to 1.3138, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8865.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 94.40.
