Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 2.11% or 4.80 points to trade at 232.20 at the close. Halma PLC (LON:HLMA) added 2.00% or 58.0 points to end at 2956.0 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT) was up 1.99% or 108.0 points to 5534.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which lost 4.84% or 236.5 points to trade at 4649.0 in late trade. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) declined 4.37% or 0.068 points to end at 1.490 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) shed 3.72% or 74.60 points to 1928.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1059 to 902 and 485 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.10% or 1.85 to $1783.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.53% or 2.11 to hit $81.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.33% or 2.00 to trade at $83.82 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.14% to 1.3805, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8430.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 93.632.
