Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Industrial Metals & Mining and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BT Group PLC (LON:BT), which rose 2.70% or 5.40 points to trade at 205.60 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 2.44% or 23.20 points to end at 973.60 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) was up 2.43% or 9.60 points to 405.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Halma PLC (LON:HLMA), which lost 4.53% or 129.0 points to trade at 2722.0 in late trade. GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) declined 4.22% or 1.51 points to end at 34.29 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) shed 3.61% or 11.45 points to 305.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1422 to 788 and 222 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 4.69% or 87.25 to $1774.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 2.66% or 1.92 to hit $70.23 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 2.63% or 1.96 to trade at $72.43 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.3919, while EUR/GBP fell 0.19% to 0.8557.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.72% at 91.868.
