Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Electrical sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.43%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 2.75% or 25.60 points to trade at 956.60 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 1.95% or 126.00 points to end at 6584.00 and Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF) was up 1.85% or 3.90 points to 214.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 3.80% or 103.00 points to trade at 2605.00 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 3.37% or 62.50 points to end at 1790.00 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) shed 3.15% or 17.00 points to 522.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1152 to 960 and 212 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.55% or 8.25 to $1496.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 2.16% or 1.18 to hit $53.52 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.16% or 1.31 to trade at $59.20 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.66% to 1.2564, while EUR/GBP rose 0.64% to 0.8779.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.19% at 98.192.
