Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Pharmaceuticals & Biotech and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN), which rose 4.80% or 129.0 points to trade at 2819.0 at the close. Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) added 3.86% or 166.0 points to end at 4462.0 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 3.76% or 5.75 points to 158.65 in late trade.
Biggest losers included GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq), which lost 3.64% or 1.14 points to trade at 30.21 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 3.55% or 35.00 points to end at 951.80 and GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK) shed 3.02% or 47.00 points to 1512.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1174 to 794 and 481 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.35% or 6.50 to $1863.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.68% or 0.53 to hit $78.08 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.66% or 0.53 to trade at $80.81 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.11% to 1.3495, while EUR/GBP rose 0.36% to 0.8425.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.28% at 95.562.
