Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Forestry & Paper, Life Insurance/Assurance and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 2.91% or 47.00 points to trade at 1664.00 at the close. Next PLC (LON:NXT) added 2.25% or 93.00 points to end at 4227.00 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was up 2.02% or 160.00 points to 8070.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.53% or 31.00 points to trade at 1196.00 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 2.19% or 13.50 points to end at 603.50 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 1.89% or 34.50 points to 1788.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1294 to 627 and 455 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.70% or 9.26 to $1339.66 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.40% or 0.19 to hit $47.48 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.37 to trade at $52.38 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.13% to 1.2933, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.9216.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 92.46.
