Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Construction & Materials and Gas, Water & Multiutilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 5.15% or 685.0 points to trade at 13985.0 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 2.78% or 157.0 points to end at 5811.0 and Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) was up 2.51% or 162.0 points to 6604.3 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Imperial Brands PLC (LON:IMB), which lost 5.06% or 75.50 points to trade at 1415.50 in late trade. Persimmon PLC (LON:PSN) declined 4.73% or 134.0 points to end at 2700.0 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) shed 4.43% or 77.00 points to 1660.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1172 to 1067 and 72 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.16% or 2.90 to $1808.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.66% or 0.76 to hit $44.95 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 1.73% or 0.84 to trade at $47.69 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.39% to 1.3330, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.067.
