Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Oil & Gas Producers and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.34%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.50% or 29.20 points to trade at 862.40 at the close. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) added 2.41% or 1.26 points to end at 53.50 and Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) was up 2.31% or 4.26 points to 188.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 4.07% or 85.00 points to trade at 2005.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 3.48% or 55.0 points to end at 1526.2 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 2.70% or 8.50 points to 306.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1104 to 842 and 467 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.13% or 20.45 to $1831.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.81% or 0.57 to hit $69.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.44% or 0.32 to trade at $72.71 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.25% to 1.3864, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8572.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 92.082.
