Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Travel & Leisure, Industrial Transportation and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.33%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN), which rose 3.80% or 21.20 points to trade at 579.20 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 2.26% or 31.00 points to end at 1404.00 and BHP Group PLC (LON:BHPB) was up 2.10% or 52.50 points to 2555.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 7.85% or 1.11 points to trade at 12.97 in late trade. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) declined 6.36% or 171.0 points to end at 2519.0 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) shed 6.27% or 0.47 points to 6.97.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1280 to 565 and 512 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.12% or 2.35 to $1899.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.13% or 0.12 to hit $91.64 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.43% or 0.40 to trade at $93.37 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.20% to 1.3587, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8335.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 96.085.
