Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Tobacco and Food Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES), which rose 3.68% or 23.00 points to trade at 647.60 at the close. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) added 2.13% or 17.00 points to end at 816.40 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 2.02% or 102.00 points to 5142.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which lost 3.69% or 57.50 points to trade at 1500.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 2.23% or 52.00 points to end at 2277.00 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 2.06% or 13.80 points to 657.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1061 to 1050 and 232 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.02% or 0.30 to $1560.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $58.71 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.40% or 0.26 to trade at $65.11 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.07% to 1.2999, while EUR/GBP fell 0.05% to 0.8526.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 97.430.
