Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which rose 3.55% or 81.00 points to trade at 2,365.00 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.36% or 20.00 points to end at 615.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 2.41% or 136.00 points to 5,785.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Entain PLC (LON:ENT), which lost 5.52% or 42.20 points to trade at 722.00 in late trade. Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) declined 4.51% or 272.00 points to end at 5,764.00 and Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) shed 3.51% or 40.00 points to 1,100.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 896 to 861 and 746 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.29% or 30.70 to $2,416.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.42% or 0.33 to hit $79.56 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.38% or 0.32 to trade at $83.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 104.36.
