Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Tobacco, Travel & Leisure and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which rose 4.09% or 0.74 points to trade at 18.82 at the close. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) added 2.83% or 0.038 points to end at 1.382 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 2.58% or 66.0 points to 2622.5 in late trade.
Biggest losers included British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS), which lost 4.84% or 132.5 points to trade at 2604.0 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) declined 4.38% or 8.18 points to end at 178.50 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 4.03% or 13.50 points to 321.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1157 to 859 and 440 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 2.07% or 35.65 to $1758.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.79% or 0.59 to hit $75.42 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.78% or 0.61 to trade at $78.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.21% to 1.3450, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.8600.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 94.392.
