Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Support Services and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM), which rose 2.18% or 9.40 points to trade at 441.40 at the close. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) added 2.10% or 14.80 points to end at 719.60 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) was up 1.85% or 100.00 points to 5518.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which lost 8.38% or 32.80 points to trade at 358.60 in late trade. Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) declined 6.83% or 446.00 points to end at 6083.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) shed 4.06% or 6.80 points to 160.80.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1338 to 701 and 309 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 1.38% or 16.50 to $1208.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.17% or 0.13 to hit $75.17 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.08% or 0.07 to trade at $84.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.2988, while EUR/GBP rose 0.26% to 0.8901.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 95.03.
