Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT), which rose 3.12% or 32.00 points to trade at 1056.00 at the close. DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) added 2.82% or 8.60 points to end at 313.80 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.56% or 61.00 points to 2443.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 12.70% or 28.35 points to trade at 194.85 in late trade. Tui AG (LON:TUIT) declined 5.56% or 17.20 points to end at 292.20 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) shed 4.93% or 51.3 points to 990.2.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1225 to 991 and 168 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.17% or 3.20 to $1929.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.25% or 1.32 to hit $39.28 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.94% or 1.26 to trade at $41.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.13% to 1.3062, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.9041.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 93.090.
