Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mobile Telecommunications and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV), which rose 3.05% or 24.40 points to trade at 823.80 at the close. Compass Group PLC (LON:CPG) added 2.00% or 39.00 points to end at 1990.00 and British Land Company PLC (LON:BLND) was up 1.93% or 10.80 points to 570.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rosneft (LON:ROSNq), which lost 3.51% or 0.26 points to trade at 7.04 in late trade. Centrica PLC (LON:CNA) declined 2.89% or 2.46 points to end at 82.68 and JSC VTB Bank DRC (LON:VTBRq) shed 2.67% or 0.040 points to 1.461.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1265 to 923 and 204 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.35% or 5.55 to $1578.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.53% or 0.77 to hit $49.55 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 2.28% or 1.24 to trade at $53.23 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8451.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 98.732.
