Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.23%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 6.82% or 58.00 points to trade at 908.00 at the close. Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB) added 1.49% or 102.00 points to end at 6938.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) was up 1.19% or 22.00 points to 1875.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which lost 3.38% or 50.00 points to trade at 1431.00 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 2.24% or 83.00 points to end at 3627.00 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.14% or 27.00 points to 1236.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1100 to 847 and 454 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.81% or 10.28 to $1285.18 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.71% or 0.35 to hit $49.64 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.47% or 0.26 to trade at $55.88 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.65% to 1.3151, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8933.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 93.52.
