Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Food Producers and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 5.86% or 132.00 points to trade at 2383.00 at the close. Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) added 4.49% or 72.50 points to end at 1687.50 and GlaxoSmithKline PLC (LON:GSK) was up 3.21% or 51.80 points to 1663.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Informa PLC (LON:INF), which lost 7.51% or 33.80 points to trade at 416.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 7.22% or 41.00 points to end at 527.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 6.93% or 21.70 points to 291.40.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1524 to 692 and 109 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.66% or 11.15 to $1712.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.31% or 0.26 to hit $20.04 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.34% or 0.09 to trade at $26.53 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.57% to 1.2430, while EUR/GBP fell 0.14% to 0.8770.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.52% at 99.618.
