Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 2.43% or 61.00 points to trade at 2574.00 at the close. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) added 1.42% or 2.12 points to end at 150.92 and Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) was up 1.41% or 25.50 points to 1835.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which lost 4.64% or 93.00 points to trade at 1913.00 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 2.84% or 23.60 points to end at 808.40 and Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG) shed 2.37% or 220.0 points to 9046.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1149 to 1131 and 68 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.35% or 6.35 to $1836.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $52.32 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.21 to trade at $54.89 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.09% to 1.3574, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8897.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 90.763.
