Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Industrial Transportation sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB), which rose 12.24% or 870.00 points to trade at 7975.00 at the close. Capita PLC (LON:CPI) added 2.15% or 2.65 points to end at 125.85 and Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH) was up 2.02% or 51.0 points to 2571.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG), which lost 2.73% or 17.20 points to trade at 613.80 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 2.40% or 5.20 points to end at 211.80 and ITV PLC (LON:ITV) shed 2.27% or 3.90 points to 168.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1094 to 893 and 310 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.07% or 0.90 to $1319.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.42% or 0.30 to hit $71.00 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.24% or 0.96 to trade at $78.08 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.33% to 1.3588, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8812.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.25.
