Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Insurance and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT), which rose 4.02% or 204.00 points to trade at 5,276.00 at the close. Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 3.38% or 18.60 points to end at 568.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.28% or 16.60 points to 522.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ferguson Plc (LON:FERG), which lost 6.17% or 720.00 points to trade at 10,950.00 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 4.41% or 21.25 points to end at 460.30 and Prudential PLC (LON:PRU) shed 4.22% or 44.00 points to 1,000.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1322 to 581 and 414 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.68% or 33.00 to $1,927.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 5.77% or 5.94 to hit $97.07 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 5.72% or 6.12 to trade at $100.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.27% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 99.10.
