Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Aerospace & Defense, Oil & Gas Producers and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.46% or 10.00 points to trade at 234.30 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.76% or 19.40 points to end at 535.80 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 3.69% or 46.40 points to 1,305.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which lost 10.68% or 11.76 points to trade at 98.38 in late trade. Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) declined 4.08% or 6.82 points to end at 160.48 and BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) shed 3.10% or 23.40 points to 731.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1114 to 780 and 426 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.78% or 15.30 to $1,938.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 6.43% or 7.32 to hit $106.58 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 6.17% or 7.24 to trade at $110.13 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.71% to 1.31, while EUR/GBP rose 0.87% to 0.84.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 99.04.
