Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Automobiles & Parts, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were WPP PLC (LON:WPP), which rose 6.10% or 56.00 points to trade at 974.40 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 3.90% or 25.60 points to end at 681.40 and Barclays PLC (LON:BARC) was up 2.38% or 3.96 points to 170.36 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), which lost 3.24% or 78.0 points to trade at 2327.0 in late trade. Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) declined 2.90% or 52.00 points to end at 1739.50 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSE) shed 2.46% or 172.00 points to 6818.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1036 to 1031 and 202 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.00% or 0.05 to $1504.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 0.43% or 0.24 to hit $56.47 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.05% or 0.03 to trade at $61.70 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.24% to 1.2819, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8641.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.25% at 97.648.
