Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Construction & Materials, Electrical and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 22.46% or 168.00 points to trade at 916.00 at the close. Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK) added 4.12% or 51.00 points to end at 1288.00 and Shire PLC (LON:SHP) was up 1.49% or 55.00 points to 3750.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included CRH PLC (LON:CRH), which lost 2.61% or 73.00 points to trade at 2720.00 in late trade. Paddy Power Betfair PLC (LON:PPB) declined 2.02% or 140.00 points to end at 6805.00 and Worldpay Group PLC (LON:WPG) shed 1.99% or 8.50 points to 419.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1008 to 897 and 460 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.38% or 4.91 to $1296.91 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.48% or 0.23 to hit $47.66 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 0.29% or 0.15 to trade at $52.19 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.61% to 1.2879, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9226.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 92.67.
