Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Fixed Line Telecommunications, Healthcare Equipment & Services and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 lost 0.10%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 3.96% or 51.0 points to trade at 1340.0 at the close. Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) added 2.68% or 81.0 points to end at 3102.0 and Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON:BKGH) was up 2.35% or 109.0 points to 4744.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 4.48% or 0.74 points to trade at 15.89 in late trade. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) declined 3.37% or 49.00 points to end at 1405.00 and DCC plc (LON:DCC) shed 2.89% or 168.0 points to 5654.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1046 to 940 and 479 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1784.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.47% or 0.34 to hit $72.39 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.42% or 0.32 to trade at $75.76 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.3238, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.8571.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 95.898.
