Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food Producers, Chemicals and Food & Drug Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.08%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Provident Financial (LON:PFG), which rose 3.77% or 30.00 points to trade at 825.00 at the close. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) added 3.37% or 39.00 points to end at 1195.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 2.88% or 145.00 points to 5180.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF), which lost 4.96% or 162.00 points to trade at 3103.00 in late trade. Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) declined 2.26% or 3.80 points to end at 164.60 and Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) shed 1.54% or 125.00 points to 8000.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1259 to 668 and 463 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 1.05% or 14.24 to $1336.96 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.28% or 0.61 to hit $48.09 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 0.20% or 0.11 to trade at $53.67 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.18% to 1.3172, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.9079.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.61% at 91.87.
