Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Industrial Engineering and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.04% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 2.89% or 9.00 points to trade at 320.90 at the close. DCC plc (LON:DCC) added 2.38% or 140.0 points to end at 6030.0 and Avast PLC (LON:AVST) was up 2.32% or 13.80 points to 609.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY), which lost 5.02% or 104.0 points to trade at 1966.0 in late trade. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) declined 3.45% or 11.05 points to end at 309.00 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) shed 3.44% or 211.0 points to 5931.0.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1309 to 859 and 238 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.77% or 14.15 to $1814.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.57% or 0.41 to hit $72.06 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.45% or 0.33 to trade at $73.80 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.28% to 1.3789, while EUR/GBP rose 0.32% to 0.8567.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 92.632.
