Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas Producers, Industrial Metals & Mining and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 9.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 28.26% or 234.0 points to trade at 1062.0 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC B (LON:RDSb) added 22.91% or 244.6 points to end at 1312.2 and MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) was up 21.87% or 4.46 points to 24.85 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which lost 1.81% or 106.0 points to trade at 5759.0 in late trade. Associated British Foods PLC (LON:ABF) declined 1.23% or 20.0 points to end at 1607.5 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 1.19% or 15.00 points to 1250.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1815 to 346 and 107 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 5.66% or 88.70 to $1656.30 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.13% or 0.03 to hit $23.39 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 0.70% or 0.19 to trade at $26.84 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.49% to 1.1720, while EUR/GBP fell 1.08% to 0.9181.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.94% at 102.270.
