Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 2.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NatWest Group PLC (LON:NWG), which rose 6.58% or 7.90 points to trade at 127.95 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 6.58% or 5.04 points to end at 81.60 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) was up 6.58% or 7.15 points to 115.75 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which lost 1.18% or 29.00 points to trade at 2430.00 in late trade. BT Group PLC (LON:BT) declined 0.74% or 0.75 points to end at 101.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) shed 0.58% or 1.70 points to 290.10.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1600 to 596 and 64 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.72% or 13.70 to $1906.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 3.26% or 1.20 to hit $38.01 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.67% or 1.04 to trade at $40.01 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.23% to 1.3071, while EUR/GBP fell 0.34% to 0.8978.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.86% at 93.340.
