Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Electronic & Electrical Equipment and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 1.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 10.14% or 114.50 points to trade at 1244.00 at the close. MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) added 6.12% or 1.91 points to end at 33.11 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 5.34% or 129.5 points to 2554.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ), which lost 7.23% or 60.00 points to trade at 770.00 in late trade. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) declined 6.78% or 92.7 points to end at 1274.3 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) shed 5.98% or 9.55 points to 150.25.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1425 to 1026 and 55 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 2.56% or 48.55 to $1943.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 2.06% or 1.00 to hit $47.52 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 1.56% or 0.81 to trade at $50.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.62% to 1.3586, while EUR/GBP rose 0.95% to 0.9036.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 89.710.
