Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Aerospace & Defense and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.57%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 13.74% or 26.80 points to trade at 221.90 at the close. Experian PLC (LON:EXPN) added 3.84% or 114.0 points to end at 3084.0 and Relx PLC (LON:REL) was up 3.57% or 59.00 points to 1710.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND), which lost 2.83% or 15.30 points to trade at 525.20 in late trade. Barratt Developments PLC (LON:BDEV) declined 2.40% or 13.20 points to end at 536.80 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) shed 2.04% or 9.80 points to 470.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1265 to 881 and 203 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.13% or 2.45 to $1906.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 0.22% or 0.09 to hit $40.87 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.39% or 0.17 to trade at $42.99 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.07% to 1.2924, while EUR/GBP rose 0.09% to 0.9071.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 93.668.
