Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Chemicals and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.32%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 5.62% or 52.80 points to trade at 992.80 at the close. Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust PLC (LON:SMT) added 5.27% or 48.00 points to end at 959.00 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) was up 4.40% or 93.0 points to 2207.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq), which lost 2.84% or 0.74 points to trade at 25.31 in late trade. Rosneft (LON:ROSNq) declined 1.42% or 0.07 points to end at 5.01 and Taylor Wimpey PLC (LON:TW) shed 0.90% or 1.30 points to 143.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1440 to 730 and 131 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.64% or 11.45 to $1813.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.15% or 0.06 to hit $40.61 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $43.24 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.2616, while EUR/GBP rose 0.68% to 0.9014.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 96.227.
