Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Electrical, Industrial Metals & Mining and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.31% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Carnival PLC (LON:CCL), which rose 4.99% or 81.2 points to trade at 1707.0 at the close. SSE PLC (LON:SSE) added 4.39% or 64.00 points to end at 1521.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 3.75% or 63.50 points to 1756.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq), which lost 3.82% or 0.28 points to trade at 7.05 in late trade. GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) declined 3.51% or 1.09 points to end at 29.97 and Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) shed 3.44% or 0.52 points to 14.60.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1633 to 661 and 194 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.96% or 16.65 to $1745.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.86% or 1.09 to hit $59.74 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.66% or 1.03 to trade at $63.18 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.3840, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.8564.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 92.403.
