Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA), which rose 6.31% or 16.00 points to trade at 269.60 at the close. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) added 4.76% or 38.80 points to end at 853.60 and MMC Noril Nick (LON:NKELyq) was up 4.29% or 1.18 points to 28.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 5.64% or 140.00 points to trade at 2340.00 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 4.14% or 24.40 points to end at 564.60 and Tui AG (LON:TUIT) shed 3.63% or 15.70 points to 416.80.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1389 to 811 and 119 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.82% or 14.50 to $1780.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.27% or 0.11 to hit $40.84 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.21% or 0.09 to trade at $43.17 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.45% to 1.2517, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.9038.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.42% at 96.578.
