Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Industrial Metals & Mining and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 1.04% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 4.62% or 25.60 points to trade at 580.00 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 3.44% or 166.50 points to end at 5,001.00 and Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) was up 2.93% or 43.00 points to 1,509.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON), which lost 4.95% or 25.30 points to trade at 485.50 in late trade. AstraZeneca PLC (LON:AZN) declined 3.17% or 344.00 points to end at 10,502.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 2.25% or 18.60 points to 808.20.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 961 to 653 and 530 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.22% or 4.25 to $1,946.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.06% or 0.05 to hit $87.56 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.14% or 0.13 to trade at $90.78 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.40% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.52% at 104.17.
