Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Household Goods & Home Construction and Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 1.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which rose 7.09% or 67.50 points to trade at 1020.00 at the close. The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) added 6.94% or 267.00 points to end at 4113.00 and Hammerson PLC (LON:HMSO) was up 3.64% or 18.50 points to 526.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Intertek Group PLC (LON:ITRK), which lost 1.75% or 90.00 points to trade at 5050.00 in late trade. Provident Financial (LON:PFG) declined 1.05% or 8.50 points to end at 798.00 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) shed 0.59% or 5.00 points to 838.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1272 to 787 and 170 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.30% or 3.70 to $1249.40 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 1.32% or 0.75 to hit $57.44 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 1.75% or 1.09 to trade at $63.29 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.71% to 1.3378, while EUR/GBP rose 0.65% to 0.8794.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 93.91.
