Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Mining and Forestry & Paper sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.94% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 5.66% or 126.00 points to trade at 2351.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 4.67% or 11.25 points to end at 252.20 and Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) was up 4.63% or 122.00 points to 2758.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which lost 3.39% or 278.00 points to trade at 7932.00 in late trade. Hiscox Ltd (LON:HSX) declined 2.37% or 35.00 points to end at 1440.00 and Land Securities Group PLC (LON:LAND) shed 1.95% or 18.20 points to 914.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1352 to 782 and 210 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.55 to $1511.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.83% or 1.03 to hit $57.23 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.41% or 0.87 to trade at $62.56 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.27% to 1.2899, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8638.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 97.250.
