Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Tobacco, Life Insurance/Assurance and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.90%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Phoenix Group Holdings PLC (LON:PHNX), which rose 5.67% or 26.30 points to trade at 490.50 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 3.53% or 8.20 points to end at 240.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) was up 3.53% or 13.90 points to 408.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which lost 1.57% or 42.00 points to trade at 2,641.00 in late trade. Informa PLC (LON:INF) declined 1.38% or 9.80 points to end at 702.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON:LSEG) shed 1.24% or 106.00 points to 8,448.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 966 to 646 and 525 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.64% or 12.45 to $1,950.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.48% or 1.14 to hit $78.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 1.21 to trade at $82.64 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.38% to 1.23, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.24% to 0.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 105.50.
