Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Forestry & Paper, Beverage and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.88% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Pearson PLC (LON:PSON), which rose 7.66% or 63.60 points to trade at 893.60 at the close. International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON:ICAG) added 5.84% or 37.40 points to end at 678.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) was up 5.00% or 10.20 points to 214.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Hikma Pharmaceuticals PLC (LON:HIK), which lost 2.33% or 31.00 points to trade at 1298.00 in late trade. Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:SLA) declined 1.47% or 5.40 points to end at 362.30 and The Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKGH) shed 1.14% or 47.00 points to 4076.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1136 to 773 and 351 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.04% or 0.50 to $1312.20 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.18% or 1.49 to hit $69.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.87% or 1.38 to trade at $75.00 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.29% to 1.3537, while EUR/GBP fell 0.11% to 0.8824.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 92.50.
