Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Automobiles & Parts and Mining sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO), which rose 3.84% or 154.00 points to trade at 4168.00 at the close. Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) added 3.57% or 8.30 points to end at 240.95 and Johnson Matthey PLC (LON:JMAT) was up 3.32% or 102.00 points to 3172.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Micro Focus International PLC (LON:MCRO), which lost 3.55% or 37.60 points to trade at 1022.40 in late trade. Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) declined 3.20% or 18.00 points to end at 544.20 and Hargreaves Lansdown PLC (LON:HRGV) shed 1.98% or 35.00 points to 1737.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1323 to 763 and 208 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 5.05 to $1509.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.88% or 1.56 to hit $55.74 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 2.75% or 1.64 to trade at $61.26 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.03% to 1.2936, while EUR/GBP rose 0.17% to 0.8629.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 97.045.
