Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Aerospace & Defense, Industrial Metals & Mining and Financial Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Meggitt PLC (LON:MGGT), which rose 56.68% or 265.90 points to trade at 735.00 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) added 5.18% or 8.30 points to end at 168.40 and Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) was up 3.78% or 3.77 points to 103.48 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which lost 2.30% or 7.80 points to trade at 331.30 in late trade. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) declined 1.57% or 23.00 points to end at 1439.00 and Admiral Group PLC (LON:ADML) shed 0.50% or 17.0 points to 3383.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1372 to 860 and 212 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.12% or 2.25 to $1819.45 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.84% or 2.84 to hit $71.11 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.32% or 2.50 to trade at $72.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.15% to 1.3880, while EUR/GBP rose 0.20% to 0.8554.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 92.052.
