Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Industrial Engineering and Oil Equipment Services & Distribution sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR), which rose 8.63% or 9.80 points to trade at 123.40 at the close. Melrose Industries PLC (LON:MRON) added 5.92% or 6.90 points to end at 123.55 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 4.73% or 4.86 points to 107.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RB), which lost 2.35% or 180.0 points to trade at 7492.0 in late trade. Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI) declined 1.60% or 27.50 points to end at 1690.00 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 1.35% or 34.0 points to 2492.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1479 to 704 and 176 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.67% or 12.75 to $1920.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 6.56% or 2.43 to hit $39.48 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 5.91% or 2.32 to trade at $41.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.35% to 1.2976, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.9080.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.43% at 93.502.
