Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Electrical sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.63%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Tui AG (LON:TUIT), which rose 4.79% or 59.00 points to trade at 1290.00 at the close. Standard Life PLC (LON:SLA) added 3.21% or 13.20 points to end at 424.00 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 3.08% or 9.90 points to 331.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Experian PLC (LON:EXPN), which lost 1.45% or 22.00 points to trade at 1495.00 in late trade. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) declined 1.10% or 3.60 points to end at 323.50 and Provident Financial (LON:PFG) shed 1.01% or 20.00 points to 1956.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1378 to 528 and 442 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.33% or 4.26 to $1289.74 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.29% or 0.63 to hit $48.19 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.52% or 0.79 to trade at $51.31 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.26% to 1.2975, while EUR/GBP fell 0.12% to 0.9076.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 93.31.
