Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, General Retailers and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.55% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO), which rose 11.54% or 88.80 points to trade at 858.40 at the close. Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) added 9.18% or 81.20 points to end at 965.60 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:ICP) was up 7.61% or 111.00 points to 1,569.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centrica PLC (LON:CNA), which lost 7.24% or 6.18 points to trade at 79.14 in late trade. United Utilities Group PLC (LON:UU) declined 6.61% or 73.50 points to end at 1,039.00 and SSE PLC (LON:SSE) shed 4.61% or 86.00 points to 1,781.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1060 to 517 and 465 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.05% or 0.95 to $1,847.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 3.58% or 3.95 to hit $114.28 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 2.88% or 3.20 to trade at $114.32 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.06% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 101.99.
