Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Oil Equipment Services & Distribution and General Industrial sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were NMC Health PLC (LON:NMC), which rose 4.00% or 93.00 points to trade at 2420.00 at the close. Smurfit Kappa Group PLC (LON:SKG) added 3.73% or 96.00 points to end at 2672.00 and DS Smith PLC (LON:SMDS) was up 3.43% or 12.60 points to 379.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Whitbread PLC (LON:WTB), which lost 3.03% or 142.00 points to trade at 4543.00 in late trade. Just Eat (LON:JE) declined 2.90% or 18.60 points to end at 622.20 and Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA) shed 2.32% or 12.60 points to 531.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1291 to 815 and 223 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.47% or 6.65 to $1420.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.98% or 0.55 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.90% or 0.57 to trade at $63.83 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.21% to 1.2448, while EUR/GBP fell 0.25% to 0.8959.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 97.393.
