Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Mobile Telecommunications, Industrial Metals & Mining and Tobacco sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which rose 5.21% or 78.50 points to trade at 1584.00 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 5.00% or 70.50 points to end at 1479.00 and Vodafone Group PLC (LON:VOD) was up 3.19% or 3.62 points to 117.24 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq), which lost 7.32% or 1.29 points to trade at 16.40 in late trade. Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq) declined 6.23% or 0.084 points to end at 1.264 and NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq) shed 3.49% or 0.28 points to 7.75.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1130 to 891 and 434 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 2.05% or 38.05 to $1813.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 0.49% or 0.37 to hit $76.31 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 0.48% or 0.38 to trade at $79.27 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.33% to 1.3407, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8393.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 96.373.
