Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Banking, Travel & Leisure and General Retailers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.42%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 3.51% or 490.0 points to trade at 14435.0 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 3.10% or 13.90 points to end at 461.90 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.86% or 57.00 points to 2049.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NK Rosneft PAO DRC (LON:ROSNq), which lost 1.55% or 0.11 points to trade at 7.22 in late trade. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) declined 1.52% or 1.80 points to end at 116.48 and Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT) shed 1.48% or 42.0 points to 2790.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1077 to 851 and 482 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.92% or 16.60 to $1791.90 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.77% or 0.52 to hit $68.06 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.80% or 0.56 to trade at $70.97 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.04% to 1.3732, while EUR/GBP rose 0.07% to 0.8565.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 92.927.
