Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure, Construction & Materials and Household Goods & Home Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.38% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF), which rose 7.80% or 1010.0 points to trade at 13950.0 at the close. Informa PLC (LON:INF) added 4.72% or 24.00 points to end at 532.00 and Carnival PLC (LON:CCL) was up 2.98% or 44.2 points to 1527.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Samsung Electronics Co Ltd DRC (LON:0593xq), which lost 3.29% or 59.00 points to trade at 1735.00 in late trade. Standard Life Aberdeen PLC (LON:ABDN) declined 2.32% or 6.90 points to end at 290.80 and Next PLC (LON:NXT) shed 1.59% or 128.0 points to 7944.0.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1212 to 993 and 204 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.31% or 5.30 to $1731.80 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 3.29% or 2.19 to hit $68.67 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.87% or 1.98 to trade at $71.02 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.10% to 1.3829, while EUR/GBP fell 0.04% to 0.8473.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 93.088.
